For several years, we have been calculating our carbon footprint using a calculation tool from the provider ConClimate. We also did our homework for the past year and determined the results. Overall, the emissions emanating from our business operations are declining, so we come to 409.4t CO2e for the year 2022. We compensate for these still unavoidable emissions through climate protection projects.
Why do we no longer call ourselves „climate neutral“? Until now, the word „climate neutral“ was a common term often used to describe that an organization has no negative impact on the climate. However, it has become apparent that this term is not sufficiently transparent or meaningful.
For this reason, we have decided to replace the term „climate neutral“ with „carbon offset company“. This designation makes it clearer that we are actively taking measures to compensate for our CO2 emissions that cannot yet be avoided. What is clear is that we are continuing to work to reduce our CO2 emissions. We recognize that sustainability is an ongoing process and it is important to continuously strive for improvement.
What does this mean for your events in our location? How does this compensation work? Every event generates CO2 emissions that we can measure and quantify. By using renewable energies, efficient heating and cooling systems or promoting public transport for the travel of your participants, we reduce the ecological footprint as far as possible and compensate the remaining emissions by investing in the certified climate protection project „Clean Drinking Water in Kasungu/Malawi“ (Gold Standard).
By reducing and offsetting our CO2 emissions, we want to contribute to the fight against climate change and at the same time inspire that sustainable events are possible.
