Council for Sustainable Development Annual Conference

On 10 October, the annual conference of the German Council for Sustainable Development took place here for the first time. Under the motto „Overcoming blockades: New paths in sustainability policy!“, experts and interested parties from all over Germany came to the 22nd conference to discuss the urgent issues of sustainability in industry and other sectors.

500 experts from politics, business and society, as well as Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, devoted the whole day in various formats to the question of what steps are necessary to make sustainability the guiding principle of all political, economic and social processes. Other topics of the conference were international and European sustainability policy, the future of German industry and strategies against the shortage of skilled workers as well as the protection of biodiversity.

Many topics were addressed and many questions were raised: „How can both the United States and Europe avoid becoming economically dependent on opposing powers without jeopardising growth or triggering further inflation? What rules and best practices should form a new blueprint for economic statecraft? How has the West’s response to Putin’s aggression changed the contours of the role of the dollar and euro in the global economy?“

To accompany this day „properly“, our chefs were keen to offer a purely vegetarian and vegan buffet, with ingredients that are predominantly organically grown and in keeping with the season. So our guests could look forward to lentil salad, gnocchi with herb pesto, smoked celery on creamed spinach, and carrot panna cotta and chocolate brownie as desserts.

Our project manager Nina Ostherren coordinated the organisation of this event.
