A different take on the Festival of Lights
On October 15, nearly one hundred guests joined us for an evening that promised more than just a beautiful view. The occasion was the Festival of Lights. But the real story was told by our venue—with its new spaces—and the people who turn them into special experiences. Leading the way were Hoflieferanten Berlin, who recently became AXICA’s official caterer.
During three Chef’s Table sessions, the newly designed “Ausblick” room became the stage, offering perhaps the best view of the illuminated Brandenburg Gate. Here, guests were introduced to the “Zum Erinnern” catering style: hearty Berlin cuisine, given a modern twist and completely free of tavern clichés. Executive Chef Wolfgang Keller personally explained the story behind each dish. And when the vegan lard sandwiches and the Berlin pancakes with sauerkraut purée—developed especially for this evening—were served, there were surprised faces and plenty of enthusiasm.
All of the evening’s dishes were completely vegan or vegetarian, created using products from Hoflieferanten Berlin’s long-standing, carefully selected partners.
There was even more to discover on the side. During guided tours led by our advisors Jule, Tanya, Maria, Nina, and Cathrin, guests were able to explore all the rooms—including our new “Lichtblick” space. It quickly became clear just how versatile these spaces are: they can be used for a group dinner, a workshop, casual conversations, or as a quiet corner between program events.
In between, there was always time for a personal conversation, for catching up with familiar faces, and for making new acquaintances. And the Festival of Lights projections on the Brandenburg Gate provided the perfect backdrop.
That evening, all the elements that make an event special came together: a space with its own unique atmosphere, truly delicious food, and people engaging in conversation with one another.
