Berlin gegen Antisemitismus

5 years Berlin against antisemism

A stand against hatred – working together for a respectful, cosmopolitan and tolerant Berlin. This was the theme of the reception held at AXICA, where around 200 guests from the business community, civil society, Jewish communities and the political sphere gathered to mark the initiative’s fifth anniversary.

The aim is to send a visible, collective message in support of diversity, dialogue and peaceful coexistence, and to take a public stand against anti-Semitism and any form of xenophobia or intolerance in Berlin. Joe Kaeser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens Energy & Daimler Truck, summed it up in his keynote speech: “As a society, we must take a firm stand against denigration and threats to Jewish life in Berlin.”

Our managing directors, Nathalie Dahmann-Harbecke and Marc Mundstock, put it as follows: “It is important that this issue is given a platform, and it is a sad reflection on our times that we need a platform for humanity and against exclusion.”

For our project manager, Nina Ostheeren-Benedicter, this was an event that once again demonstrated what makes Gehry’s building at the Brandenburg Gate so special: important issues of our time find a fitting, dignified setting here without losing any of their lightness.
