AXICA at Bio-Gärtnerei Watzkendorf discovering where true sustainability grows

Sustainability and quality are not just buzzwords for AXICA – they are part of our daily practice. That is why we visited Bio-Gärtnerei Watzkendorf in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – a partner who has been living these values for almost three decades.

On around 26 hectares of open fields and in modern greenhouses, the team cultivates more than 40 different types of vegetables. Bioland-certified, with a closed nutrient cycle, its own seedling production, and 15 bee colonies, Watzkendorf stands for organic farming in its most consistent form.

What impressed us most was the freshness of the products: many crops are harvested only the day before and reach Berlin the very next day. Short distances, full transparency, and a careful use of resources make this produce so special – for both people and nature.

For AXICA, working with partners like Watzkendorf means that we can offer our guests not only culinary quality, but also take responsibility: for the region, for the environment, and for a sustainable future in gastronomy.
