    VOTING BEGINS IN THE DESIGN LOCATION CATEGORY - PLENUM IS IN IT TO WIN IT!
    „The shape of a fish is the perfect form of motion and one which I try to capture within my buildings…” is a famous quote from the Plenum’s creator Frank Gehry.


    The Plenum lies at the heart of the AXICA and is one of the most spectacular meeting rooms in Berlin, perhaps even Europe. With its bio-morphic forms clad in a brushed stainless steel skin it serves as a constant source of inspiration for speakers and delegates from around the globe. Inside the walk-in sculpture the Amphitheatre style of seating extends over three tiers and provides space for up to 97 guests. The room, with its excellent acoustic, is a veritable masterpiece dovetailing perfectly exquisite design with modern technology. It offers a unique canvas for all manner of events and meetings and thanks to a recent and extensive renovation now additionally provides state-of-the-art AV and flexible seating arrangements.


    These improvements have given the AXICA team a tremendous boost to further promote one of Europe’s most exclusive meeting rooms culminating in entering the Plenum for the coveted Location Awards 2013. The Location Awards celebrate each year the crème de la crème of event venues in Germany and since 2010 has become a “quality seal” for top locations with a certain je ne sais quoi. The applications are judged by an independent jury comprised of representative experts from the branch.

  • THRILLER AT THE AXICA

    THRILLER AT THE AXICA

    The thriller “Passion“ from the renowned Hollywood director Brian de Palma (Scarface, Mission Impossible I, The Untouchables) will be making its German premiere in May. The film was largely shot in the German capital last year and many of the scenes were set here within the DZ BANK building and the event spaces and offices of the AXICA itself.


    This presented a variety of new challenges for the AXICA team. Corridors and lifts were turned into film sets, event areas became offices and offices were face-lifted to suit the characters. And small-talk at the coffee machine was now being shared with Hollywood actresses such as Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. But none of this phased the AXICA team who continued to take it all in their stride, managing the shoot professionally. As a reward Brian de Palma took the time to write a personal message of thanks in the AXICA guest book.

  • NEW BLOOD FOR THE TEAM

    NEW BLOOD FOR THE TEAM

    The Event, Catering & Services Team in the AXICA Congress and Conference Centre in Berlin has been enriched with two further highly motivated and professional employees: Sandra Eibisch and Ilka Grammerstorff join the AXICA bringing with them a wealth of experience gained within the Berlin hotel landscape.


    Ilka Grammerstorff spent her recent years in the Mövenpick Hotel Berlin before moving to the Intercontinental Berlin and now to the AXICA as Manager Event, Catering & Services. Her hotel career path began with jobs in Austria and, Switzerland before leading her to Berlin where she studied parallel a course in Event Management Economics. She is a passionate skier and relishes above all the personal contact to clients. Ilka´s attention to detail together with her infectious enthusiasm has already made her popular amongst colleagues and clients alike.


    Sandra Eibisch worked previously for Catering by Marriott where she was responsible for the acquisition and implementation of off-site events. Sandra did her initial training in the Sheraton Airport Hotel, Frankfurt then continued her career in Ireland before moving on to Berlin. In The Ritz Carlton Hotel she worked as assistant to the Executive Chef and was responsible for the supply and quality control of the daily food order. With something of a reputation as a connoisseur herself, Sandra places strong emphasis on the freshness, quality and presentation of the served dishes alongside the perfect running of an event.
